I disagree with your stand on CNN. There is way too much emphasis on every tv show
regarding sex. There is too much emphasis in every aspect of people's lives regarding sex. Magazines, commercials, headline news, movies, all looking to sensationalize and be number one.
Guys and to some extent girls are made to feel that it is the thing they should most be focused on. There are so many things that are more important, education, values,
equality, family and friends, self esteem. Come on, this whole younger generation is getting the message from everyone from Madonna to Miley Cyrus that all that is important is how you look, how sexy you are and how much fame and importance you have. Sex is the cool quotient.
We should be telling them the truth, that without an education and the ability to make your own way as an adult and be independent, sex isn't even in the vast spectrum of what is important. You don't build a relationship on sex, it has no foundation without
many of the other things mentioned here.
Everything is some cheap imitation of life on tv at this point and we are already seeing
20-somethings with very clouded views of what is real and what is not real.
You took at very light view of sex being foremost in every movie, every tv show and that just ok's it with yet another stamp of approval from someone speaking on tv.
What a shame.
While sex is fine and even great for people in committed relationships, it is not anywhere near the be all and utmost important thing it is portrayed as for young people and I am sorry that they are getting the wrong, self defeating message.
The message should be: Hey, sex takes about 20 minutes even if people are in great shape and a relationship takes every minute of every day and getting and keeping self
esteem have little or nothing to do with either. That's what we should teach everyone.
