Roman Polanski Arrested By Swiss For Sex Crime
Roman Polanski may have moved on with his life since his 1977 sex crime, but law enforcement officials have not.
Los Angeles authorities issued a provisional arrest warrant last week after learning that Polanski would be attending the Zurich Film Festival, and Swiss authorities arrested him upon arrival to the country.
This arrest comes approximately seven months after a Los Angeles judge heard oral arguments regarding Polanski’s request to dismiss the 1977 child sex case. At that hearing, the judge concluded that there appeared to be substantial misconduct during the original case, but he stayed / postponed his decision to give Polanski time to decide whether to return to LA.
Polanski clearly made a decision not to return voluntarily, so now the issue will be decided in the extradition process.
