  • Popsquire Beat: This Week In Pop Culture And Law

The Popsquire Beat presents this week’s most entertaining collisions between pop culture and law.  Enjoy!

    1.  Paris Hilton gave hot testimony in court this week.

She attended a pre-trial hearing in Miami in an $8 million lawsuit accusing her of failing to promote her 2006 film, Pledge This! When asked whether she keeps a diary for business meetings, she said: “I just press my name and Google it and see.“  Seriously.

    1.  For Michael Jackson, Human Nature is litigious.

MJ faces two new legal disputes: (1) Ola Ray, the actress who played MJ’s date during the Thriller video filed a lawsuit for alleged unpaid royalties from the Thriller video; and (2) Raymone Bain, MJ’s former spokesperson/manager, is suing for $44 million arising out of alleged unpaid commission for deals she brokered.  Um, these ladies should just file their paychecks under “Never Never Land.”

    3.  Life’s a breach for Miss California.

Pageant spokesperson Roger Neal says that Carrie Prejean may have run afoul of several parts of her 12-page pageant contract by making numerous unauthorized television appearances and posing for semi-nude photos.  Donald Trump says he will make a decision about Prejean’s future after he’s looked at the photos…over and over and over and over again.

Have a good weekend.  Remember, please don’t drink and drive!
