MTV Premiere Of Paris Hilton Documentary: “Paris, Not France”
Popsquire attended last night’s premiere of MTV’s Paris Hilton documentary, “Paris Not France.”
Accompanied by her parents, Rick and Kathy, Paris walked the red carpet in this sequined, flapper-style dress and watched the movie with her family, including sister Nicky, at her side…for most of the movie, at least.
The documentary, which was directed by Tom Petty’s daughter (Adria Petty) and filmed before Paris’ infamous 2007 jail stint, provides an inside look into the heiress’ life. For someone who lives so much of her life in the public eye, is there really anything the world doesn’t already know about Paris?
The answer is, surprisingly, yes. For example, Paris says she thought about going to an Ivy League college, but quickly realized: “I knew what I wanted to do and it didn’t require learning much about anything.” And, when asked what kind of super powers she’d like to have, she replies: “To fly, to be invisible, and to disappear.”
The most serious and revealing part of the film revolves around the infamous 2004 sex tape. Yes, it does seem like old news at this point. Maybe that’s why Kathy excused herself from the theater as the film turned to this subject and returned to her seat just as the topic wrapped.
If Kathy hadn’t seen the entire film before last night, then she missed Paris painting herself as the victim, hinting that she was under age, claiming she had no idea she was being taped, and lamenting that Rick Solomon didn’t really love her.
Paris also directly addresses the popular theory that she orchestrated the sex tape release to publicize her reality show, “The Simple Life.” With a sincere tone, she explains: “Why would I do that? Plus, if I did, I’d want to look hot. I looked gross.”
Now, that’s what lawyers call a solid closing argument.
“Paris, Not France” premieres on MTV next Tuesday, July 28. Give it a watch.
