A Beautiful Life: Can Mischa Barton Be Fired?
Mischa Barton’s new CW show, A Beautiful Life, may not be on hold, even though Mischa is on the 5150 kind.
A spokesperson for the CW told TVGuide.com that the July 22 production start date for the show remains unchanged, and the show is slated to premiere as planned on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
That’s strange, given that the show’s star may not be well enough to work. Does this mean the CW is setting the stage to fire Mischa if she doesn’t show up to work in two days?
Let’s hope not! State and federal disability laws require employers to provide disabled employees with a reasonable accommodation, unless it would impose and undue hardship on the company.
The definition of “undue hardship” can be vague, but delaying production for a short period of time to accommodate Mischa’s medical needs seems pretty reasonable to Popsquire.
PS: An insider tells Popsquire that Mischa is very well liked by the show’s writing staff and that she doesn’t deserve the bad rap she often gets.
UPDATE: The CW has decided to posptone production one week, until July 31. Good move!
