Michael Jackson’s Kids: Debbie Rowe Wants Them?
NBC4 says the answer is yes. During a telephone interview this morning, she said: “I want my children.”
This can be a game changer. Although courts generally are guided by what is in the best interests of the kids, the standard can be very different when the battle is between a parent (presumably, Debbie Rowe) and a non-parent (Katherine Jackson).
If Katherine wants to keep the kids, she may have to show that appointing Debbie as the kids’ guardian would be detrimental to their interests. This case is especially complicated, because (among many other reasons) Debbie says she is the biological mother of only the two eldest kids, and courts typically don’t like to separate siblings.
Will Katherine request a DNA / maternity test? Does Debbie have any relationship with these kids? What do the kids want? All of these questions may be answered as Michael Jackson’s legal legacy unfolds.
Popsquire wishes the best for the kids and will keep you posted.
UPDATE: Debbie Rowe’s attorney said Thursday afternoon that Rowe “has not reached a final decision on pending custody,” and she has chosen to keep silent “out of respect for Michael’s children.” He added that it would be a “distortion of the truth” to say she is going after custody and further confirmed the media will be notified when she makes a decision.
