Celebrity Statements: R.I.P., Michael Jackson
The celebrity statements about Michael Jackson have been pouring in since yesterday. Below is a running tab. John Landis remains the top contender for the coldest.
Like a typical lawyer, Popsquire organized these in alphabetical order by first name. FYI, these are non-Twitter released statements.
Britney Spears:
“I was so excited to see his show in London. We were going to be on tour in Europe at the same time and I was going to fly in to see him. He has been an inspiration throughout my entire life and I’m devastated he’s gone!”
Brooke Shields:
“My heart is overcome with sadness for the devastating loss of my true friend Michael. He was an extraordinary friend, artist and contributor to the world. I join his family and his fans in celebrating his incredible life and mourning his untimely passing.”
Corey Feldman:
“I come to you today with great sadness, acknowledging the loss of the greatest entertainer in the history of mankind. For me he was more than that, he was my idol, he was a role model, he was someone to cry to when my childhood was unbearable, he was a brother, he was a dear friend. Unfortunately Michael and I had a falling out on September 10th 2001 and that broken friendship had never been repaired … I am filled with tremendous sadness and remorse. All I choose to remember from this point is the good times we shared and what an inspiration he was to me and the rest of the world. Nobody will ever be able to do what Michael Jackson has done in this industry, and he was so close to doing it all again. I am truly, and deeply sorry for all of the heartbroken fans and supporters worldwide.”
Diana Ross:
“I can’t stop crying, this is too sudden and shocking. I am unable to imagine this. My heart is hurting. I am in prayer for his kids and the family.”
Eddie Van Halen:
“I am really shocked; as I’m sure the world is, to hear the news. I had the pleasure of working with Michael on ‘Beat It’ back in ‘83 — one of my fondest memories in my career.
Michael will be missed and may he rest in peace.”
Elizabeth Taylor:
“My heart … my mind … are broken. I loved Michael with all my soul and I can’t imagine life without him. We had so much in common and we had such loving fun together. I was packing up my clothes to go to London for his opening when I heard the news. I still can’t believe it. I don’t want to believe it. It can’t be so. He will live in my heart forever but it’s not enough. My life feels so empty. I don’t think anyone knew how much we loved each other. The purest most giving love I’ve ever known. Oh God! I’m going to miss him. I can’t yet imagine life without him. But I guess with God’s help … I’ll learn. I keep looking at the photo he gave me of himself, which says, ‘To my true love Elizabeth, I love you forever.’ And, I will love HIM forever.”
John Landis:
“I was lucky enough to know and work with Michael Jackson in his prime. Michael was an extraordinary talent and a truly great international star. He had a troubled and complicated life and despite his gifts, remains a tragic figure. My wife Deborah and I will always have great affection for him.”
Justin Timberlake:
“I can’t find the words right now to express how deeply sadden [sic] I am by Michael’s passing. We have lost a genius and a true ambassador of not only Pop music, but of all music. He has been an inspiration to multiple generations and I will always cherish the moments I shared with him on stage and all of the things I learned about music from him and the time we spent together. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones.”
Lisa Marie Presley:
“I am so very sad and confused with every emotion possible. I am heartbroken for his children, who I know were everything to him, and for his family. This is such a massive loss on so many levels, words fail me.”
Liza Minnelli:
“He was a kind, genuine, and wonderful man. He was also one of the greatest entertainers that ever lived. I loved him very much and I will miss him every remaining day of my life.”
Madonna:
“I can’t stop crying over the sad news. I have always admired Michael Jackson. The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever!
My heart goes out to his three children and other members of his family. God bless.”
Paul McCartney:
“I feel privileged to have hung out and worked with Michael. He was a massively talented boy man with a gentle soul. His music will be remembered forever and my memories of our time together will be happy ones.”
Quincy Jones:
“I am absolutely devastated at this tragic and unexpected news. For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don’t have the words.”

Not a big loss. He was a twisted human being and a child molestor. He had a tremendous impact on American pop culture, but a few kids have been spared this freak’s advances.
Parents everywhere should be glad that this clown is on ice.
I can’t believe this….When i heard…i had goose bumps all over and a sudden feeling to ball (cry)! He’s going to be so missed! It was too soon!
Tom, i can’t believe you would say that! You sicken me! You have no idea what he’s been through…and you have no idea if any of that nonsense is true! Your opinion doesn’t matter, Michael Jackson will be very missed!
Tom, you are such a sad piece of trash….but i’m sure that you know that and have been told numerous times…the first time, by your mother, the day that you were born…sick ass bastard.

It has been days now since I wake up every morning thinking that I had this terrible nightmare! I cannot believe that we will not see you in concerts anymore, at least not in a new one, and that you are not here anymore!!! I am in shock still… You will be missed, you are loved, cherrished and appreciated, and I am sure you heard those things many times, I only wish that you believed them and that you knew all these. I am from Romania. Romania loves you, and cherrishes you! You will live through your music and your messages and we will pass on the challenges that you raised before us! Missing you already!

In reply to Tom’s words from above:
First of all you should not accuse, before you know something for sure. Second of all, you are just a regular guy brainwashed by stupid media that is selling their stupid stories. Most of those are not true. I have read things about Romania in a Travel Guide sold by Barnes and Nobles that absolutely crazy, untrue and completely laughable. I am 33 y.o. and lived in Romania since my birth. The only get aways are visits around the world here and there. I should know better what is the culture and traditions of my people. So, if a travel guide in a renowned bookstore can say such untrue things, what makes you think that a tabloid that sells for 1 or 2 dollars, would know the truth and print it about a human being. I read such stupid stuff about how Mike did or did not do one thing or another, was or wasn’t in one place or another, everything is so contradictory, but people want to make money of a story, of another human, without thinking how this persone is affected. MJ was a genius, we will all pass away, and people will still listen to his music. How many of the things said about him are true?! Probably very few. It is amazing to me to see people that have a mind that God gave them and they do not put it to use. Don’t you know that stupid tabloids sell lies about people????? If you truly believe, that they not, than I am really worried about your IQ. If you do not, but you still spill out such hatred, than you are simply evil. I am glad Mike is finally spared of all the bad things, the people in the world had done to him. May of them just wanted a piece of his glory, his money, and so on, and they misused him. I do hope that you, Tom, will open up your mind to check any information that comes across your way, and you will not allow yourself to be brainwashed daily by untrue things that people call ironically news.
