  • Auction House Says Michael Jackson Is A Smooth Criminal

New details are emerging in the dispute between Michael Jackson and Julien’s Auction House.

In early March, MJ filed a lawsuit to stop Julien’s from auctioning off thousands of his personal possessions.  MJ claims that he never gave permission to sell many of the items, but the auction house disagrees.  A court hearing is on calendar for April 3, and the auction is set to begin April 22.

Meanwhile, Darren Julien said in a sworn statement filed with a Los Angeles court that one of MJ’s reps threatened that the auctioneers would be in danger “from Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam,” if they went forward with the auction.  “He told us that Dr. Tohme (MJ’s manager) and Michael Jackson wanted to give the message to us ‘that our lives are at stake and there will be bloodshed.’”

    Bloodshed? So dramatic!

Of course, one of MJ’s lawyers, Alan Gutman, accuses Julien’s of misconduct and says its president “has not felt constrained by the truth while trying to capture the spotlight for the auction….”  He also claims that the consignment agreement between MJ and Julien’s is illegal and unenforceable.

Yeah, right.  Lawyers for Julien’s likely worked around the clock to put together an iron-clad contract to make sure MJ couldn’t back out.  After all, this isn’t the first time MJ has been accused of trying to wiggle out of a contract.  Just ask John Landis and the Prince of Bahrain!
