John Landis vs. Michael Jackson
John Landis is less than thrilled with Michael Jackson.
In a breach of contract lawsuit filed in LA Superior Court, Landis — whose credits include Animal House, The Blues Brothers, and Trading Places — claims that MJ is a Smooth Criminal. According to the complaint, they entered into a written contract in 1983 granting Landis 50% of all net profits associated with the Thriller video, but MJ hasn’t paid up in at least four years!
Note to Landis: It’s better to sue deep pockets, instead of empty pockets. The world has watched MJ going broke for years. Although he just sold the rights to develop a musical based on the video, everything is tanking on Broadway. Good luck, dude.
