Warren G In The Weeds
Rapper Warren G and a friend were arrested around 2:00 am on Sunday morning for pot possession, according to TMZ.
Most recently known for Celebrity Fit Club and Celebrity Rap Superstar, Warren G may have some serious reality to deal with if, as TMZ reports, he had enough drugs to be charged with an intent to sell.
Possible punishment: Assuming the drugs belonged to G, possession of weed with intent to sell is a felony that carries a maximum penalty of three years’ state prison. When a drug charge involves sales, or possession with intent to sell, the defendant is no longer eligible for drug diversion programs.
Possible plea: A good defense attorney should argue that the defendant had the weed for personal use, requiring the DA to prove G’s intent. The defense attorney can point to G’s discography to show that he is a major weed smoker, illustrating the logic that he would buy in bulk.
Popsquire’s prediction: Depending on G’s prior record, the charges may result in a misdemeanor pot possession or a felony possession for personal use. Both would allow G eligible to remain eligible for drug diversion and ultimate dismissal if he completes a drug program.
