Sean Penn No Longer Getting Divorced?
Just weeks after filing for legal separation from his wife, Sean Penn is withdrawing his motion.
This isn’t the first time this couple has done this. In 2007, they filed for divorce and then got back together within months. It’s like they’re a real life Katy Perry song — They’re in. Then, they’re out. They’re up, then they’re down. They’re hot, then they’re cold.
So, why file for divorce if you’re not sure? The answer could be money. A spouse may not be entitled to marital income after the date of court filing for separation.

Filing for divorce to bar a spouse from “being entitled to earnings” implies an expectation of a protracted expensive court-battle. If couples would only mediate instead. Through mediation couples get to determine how they want to split assets, income, earnings, etc.
