    Stephanie Birkitt, the woman at the center of the alleged extortion plot against David Letterman, is on a paid leave of absence.  So, she gets to kiss the boss and make out with free money?  Not a bad gig.

    PS: Don’t be surprised if Birkitt never returns.  The Late Show might offer her a generous severance to find a new job and avoid future speculation about her relationship with Letterman as well as possible legal issues.
