It’s about a scientist who secretly creates a powerful robot child to replace his deceased son.  The robot uses it’s incredible powers to become a world famous super-hero and fights an alien race that threatens Earth.

Take that, Richard Heene.  A flying saucer ain’t nothing compared to Astro Boy.

The movie is about an affair between a politician and a ballerina.  Hmm…a hooker or an Argentine would have been more realistic.

Celebrity attendees included: Michael Douglas (duh), Catherine Zeta-Jones (double duh), Kirk Douglas, Warren Beatty, Annette Benning, Kathleen Turner, Jane Seymour, Christopher Lloyd, Hugh Hefner, Jesse Metcalfe, Bai Ling, and more.

On the carpet, Michael told Popsquire he thought the night was “overwhelming,” while his dad Kirk said he could not be more proud of his son.  Jane Seymour and Christopher Lloyd both credited Michael’s career success with his talent and willingness to take risks.

Surprisingly, Hugh Hefner chose Wall Street over Basic Instinct as his favorite Michael Douglas film.  Bai Ling, on the other hand, talked about how she wants to play his lover in a film and that she was a cheetah in her former life.  Seriously.

To see what happened after the red carpet, tune in to TV Land on July 19.

Sacha Baron Cohen Sued For “Bruno” Conduct

    June 3rd, 2009

Eminem isn’t the only one who is upset with Sacha Baron Cohen.

    90531a1_cohen_s_b_b-gr_18
    [Bauer Griffin Online]

The difference is that Richelle Olsen isn’t faking her anger.  In a lawsuit filed against Cohen, NBC Universal, and others, Olsen claims that Cohen’s character Bruno left her confined to a wheelchair after he “offensively touched, pushed and battered” her during a 2007 bingo game.  Olsen claims that the altercation — apparently a wrestling match over control for the bingo mic — caused her to sob “uncontrollably” and fall down, resulting in a “diagnosis of two brain bleeds.”

The issue here may be whether the plaintiff signed a release after the alleged conduct occurred.  Several other people sued Cohen for Borat conduct, but those cases were dismissed because the plaintiffs had signed releases.

    Popsquire will keep you posted.

Thankfully, that’s what Kevin Williamson is looking to do with Courteney Cox and David Arquette for a new set of Scream movies.   EW reports that writer-director Williamson has been working on a new trilogy that will bring back many of the characters from the original movies and that he has approached Courteney and David to return.

Too bad he can’t bring back Drew Barrymore, too.  Remember what happened to her?  Watch below:
