According to People, Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds have split up and will not be completing a legally binding U.S. wedding. Popsquire isn’t going to be shy about this. I told you so!
As you may recall, Popsquire was the first to spot this issue when the couple announced their Bora Bora “wedding” on New Year’s Day.
Popsquire pop quiz: What will happen to Tracey’s engagement ring?
Assuming a man buys the ring with his own funds, then the majority of courts likely would consider the engagement ring to be a conditional gift. This means that, until the marriage happens, the gift isn’t final. When the wedding does not occur, then a guy generally may have the right to get the ring back!
Popsquire wonders, however, if the condition has been met if they went through only with the “symbolic” wedding…that will depend upon the understanding between Eddie and Tracey.
In honor of the non-couple’s current status, enjoy this George Michael classic…

According to People, a rep for Eddie Murphy’s new “wife” confirms that the Bora Bora wedding is not legally recognized in the United States. Don’t fret, though, because the couple intends to hold a legal ceremony after returning to the USA.
As you know, Popsquire was the first to predict this on Tuesday, which you can read here. Did Eddie know this all along? Or was Popsquire helpful? Either way, Popsquire again congrats the quasi-newlyweds!
In celebration of their not-yet-legal wedding, enjoy one of the best moments in wedding history that Popsquire has ever seen. Of course, Eddie and Tracey, if you want to share a video of your wedding (either the spiritual one or the upcoming legal one), there’s a special spot for it here on Popsquire…

Popsquire was the first to raise the issue about whether Eddie Murphy’s Bora Bora wedding will be legally recognized in the United States. Generally, so long as a couple adheres to the marriage laws of the foreign country, the United States will recognize the union.
Let’s see how a few other foreign-married celebs covered they legal booties…
Eva Longoria and Tony Parker were married in a civil ceremony at Paris’s city hall on July 6, 2007. This came before the big church wedding because French law requires a civil ceremony.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were married on November 18, 2006 outside of Rome, Italy. Because Scientology weddings are not legally recognized in Italy, the couple made their union official in Los Angeles before heading to Italia.
Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley were married in the Dominican Republic on May 26, 1994. Click aqui to see the requirements to obtain a valid marriage in the DR.
In honor of legal marriage, take a look — if you dare — at this historical post-nuptial kiss.

According to People Magazine, Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds were married yesterday in the French Polynesian island of Bora Bora. Good for them!
But…Popsquire wonders if this wedding is invalid. Many travel sites (like this one here) expressly inform travelers that weddings in French Polynesia may not be valid in the United States and that couples should perform a civil ceremony at home and then tie the knot in style abroad.
To marry legally in Bora Bora, you must stay 40 days and file for residency, which is why many couples simply hold only a symbolic ceremony on the island.
Eddie, is this wedding for real? Or just for a dreamgirl? Popsquire is politely awaiting a response…
