    Brinkley vs. Cook (Again)

    October 9th, 2008

Christie Brinkley may not happy about Peter Cook expressing his View with Barbara Walters!

Following the announcement of Peter’s upcoming 20/20 interview with Barbara Walters, Christie filed a request for a temporary restraining order and a motion for post-judgment relief in court yesterday.

Details about the basis for this request are not yet available, but Popsquire suspects Christie is fuming over Peter’s possible breach of the settlement agreement they entered by blabbing about their relationship.  Popsquire will keep you posted!

UPDATE, 4:00 pm: Christie wanted to strip Peter of visitation with the kids this weekend because she doesn’t want her kids to see the Barbara Walters interview.  The court denied the TRO request, but according to Christie’s attorney: “The court order mandates that since Peter Cook has the children this weekend, his parenting has to be away from his home and he can’t expose them to the 20/20 broadcast. Christie Brinkley’s sole concern is to protect her children.”

Sharon Says No Sliver Of Truth To Botox Accusations

    October 3rd, 2008

Sharon Stone defends her Basic Mothering Instinct!

Responding to the accusation that she wanted to inject her son with botox to cure smelly feet, her attorney says: “Sharon Stone never made this statement. It is a complete fabrication.”

It’s too bad the attorney couldn’t convince the court that it was a fabrication; citing evidence provided by Sharon’s ex, the court clearly writes that Sharon overreacts to her son’s medical problems and that she “suggested that Roan should have Botox injections in his feet to resolve a problem he had with foot odor.”

    Sharon Stone Custody Update

    October 1st, 2008

Because faithful Popsquire followers keep up with current events, you likely already know that court documents surfaced late yesterday detailing the court’s decision in the Sharon Stone child custody battle.

The court followed the recommendations of Dr. Margaret Lee, a court-appointed health care professional.  After examining Dr. Lee’s August 15 report, the court concluded that, among other things: (1) Sharon overreacts to Roan’s medical issues (among other things, she apparently wanted to botox his feet to address odor problems); (2) Roan is better off staying in his current school; and (3) Sharon’s ex can continue to provide the most stable environment for Roan.

Sadly, the court document provides many other private, physical and emotional details about Sharon’s son.  Although Popsquire has a copy of the court document, you won’t find it on this site.  In fact, Popsquire is disappointed that the document was released.  It could have been filed under seal or released with the sensitive information redacted.

    Sharon Stone Sans Son

    September 23rd, 2008

Sharon Stone doesn’t even get a Sliver of custody!

Entertainment Tonight reports that Sharon Stone has lost physical custody of her 8-year-old son Roan. According to court documents detailing a September 12, 2008 custody hearing, Phil Bronstein “shall have permanent sole physical custody of child. Court finds that Respondent (Sharon Stone) failed to meet her burden of proof and denies Respondent’s (Sharon Stone’s) request for modification of custody.”

Roan will remain with Bronstein unless Stone relocates to San Francisco or Bronstein decides to move. “The court does not find that (a) move away is in child’s best interest,” say the minutes.  Bronstein “can provide a more structured continuity, stable, secure, and consistent home that child, Roan, needs.”

    Popsquire’s perspective…

It’s important to remember that physical custody simply refers to a child’s residence and does not preclude visitation rights.  If Sharon does not live in SF, then it doesn’t really make sense for the parents to share physical custody.  Courts generally favor stability for kids, including consistency in where they attend school and participate in extracurricular activities.

    A-Rod Divorce All Over

    September 19th, 2008

A-Rod and Cynthia Rodriguez have reached a quick settlement in their divorce, which Cynthia filed in June amid rumors that A-Rod and Madonna were having an affair.  A-Rod’s attorney is not releasing details, but he tells the NY Daily News: “They deliberately engaged in a private negotiation. This was and remains a personal family matter for both of them.”

Although no details are being released, Cynthia must have gotten more than the couple’s pre-nup had provided.  She filed for divorce first, blamed A-Rod even though Florida is a no-fault divorce state, and sought additional compensation.  There likely would be no reason for her enter such a quick settlement if she didn’t get more than the pre-nup provided.

For a review of the Madonna/A-Rod rumors, which Madonna has denied, check out this video of Popsquire on TV Guide Network’s “Hollywood 411.”

    Star Finalizes Divorce

    September 11th, 2008

Star Jones — the ultimate pop culture/law collision — is finalizing her divorce from Al Reynolds.

Her rep tells Access Hollywood that the pair “have reached an amicable settlement in their divorce proceeding and expect the divorce to be finalized in the very near future,” and that they “are moving on with their private lives and will be making no further public comments consistent with the terms of their settlement.”

    Popsquire’s perspective…

A high profile divorce settlement typically involves several elements.  In addition to a monetary settlement, the parties often consider additional terms.  For example, the parties may agree not to make negative or defamatory comments about the other in public.  Although we may never know the precise terms of their divorce, evidence of this will appear in the form of “no comment” or canned reactions to questions about each other in the coming months.

Hilary Duff’s Dad Held In Contempt of Court

    August 28th, 2008

Hilary Duff’s dad is Without Love!

Hilary and Haylie’s parents, Bob and Susan, have been battling it out in bitter divorce proceedings for more than two years, and yesterday’s hearing was no exception.  According to the Houston Chronicle, Susan sought a court order requiring Bob to contribute $25,000 for Hilary’s 21st birthday present and party, but she got something else — courtroom drama.  After ordering Bob to pay $12,500 for Hilary’s birthday, the judge also sent Bob to jail for 10 days in contempt of court for allegedly violating an injunction against selling assets without court approval.

    Popsquire’s perspective…

Family law cases often destroy families and continue for several years, especially when the parties fight over significant sums of money.  With allegations of unauthorized asset sales and misuse of money, this case is ripe for further drama.  Realize, however, that family law judges have seen it all and typically are prepared for far worse than the Duffs!

Popsquire wishes Hilary and Haylie all the best and invites everyone to treat them with Dignity.

Phil Collins’ Ex Lives Another Day In Paradise

    August 18th, 2008

Divorce is In The Air Tonight!

Orianne Cevey (the ex) is getting approximately $2 million more than what Heather Mills was awarded in her split from Paul McCartney. Phil is reportedly worth an estimated $280 million and has five children from his three ex-wives.

Is Popsquire the only one who is totally shocked that Phil is worth so much money?!? No wonder his wives and children can live Another Day In Paradise!

Dixie Chick Not Ready To Make Nice!

    August 7th, 2008

Dixie Chick Emily Robison and her husband, singer Charlie Robison, finalized their divorce in Texas yesterday, according to the San Antonio Express-News. Their filing states that their marriage had “become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities.”

    Popsquire’s perspective…

Texas law allows for “no-fault” divorces. However, if one party is at “fault” for the breakup of the marriage, however, the court may take that into consideration in determining what is an “equitable” division of the property. In this case, the language reads similar to the California standard “irreconcilable differences,” so it doesn’t appear as if either party plans to fight over whose fault it is.

For the sake of being obvious, Popsquire gives you this Dixie Chicks hit, “Not Ready To Make Nice.”

    Morgan A Free Man?

    August 7th, 2008

It seems like everything is broken in Morgan Freeman’s life these days.

Unlike his arm, elbow, and car, however, it looks like Freeman’s marriage may be irreparable. His business partner and lawyer, Bill Luckett, confirms that Freeman and his wife of 24 years are getting a divorce. Luckett told the Memphis Commercial-Appeal newspaper that the divorce action between Freeman and Myrna Colley-Lee is pending as the Dark Knight actor remains in the hospital after his recent one-car crash.

Click here to read Popsquire’s prior posts about celebrity divorces.

UPDATE: Morgan is out of the hospital, but is still getting a divorce.

Charlie Sheen: Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems!

    August 5th, 2008

Charlie Sheen brings home enough bacon for a lot more than Two And A Half Men!

According to a poll released by TV Guide, Charlie made more than any other TV actor this year with earnings of $825,000 per episode for Two And A Half Men. At the rate of approximately 23 episodes per year, Sheen must be making just under $20 million a year.

Of course, with this kind of success must come collisions with the law. See below for a few examples…

    Heather Mills vs. Publicist

    July 31st, 2008

After being awarded approximately $50 million in her divorce from Paul McCartney, Heather Mills reportedly has not paid her publicist!

According to SFGate.com, Michelle Elyzabeth claims she is owed $100,000 for her publicity services and is going on the offensive.  Elyzabeth now reveals that purported footage of an abusive McCartney that Mills threatened to show to the court during the couple’s high-profile divorce battle never existed:

“I really don’t believe she did (have the video). I was close enough and I heard a couple of conversations. Now that I know what I know, I don’t really think that Paul really went after her for anything.

“She had basically nothing — she had tapes of her being in the studio with him, her being on the road with him, private moments.

“She told me a bunch of stuff … (but) I don’t see him being a violent person.”

Even Popsquire wouldn’t want to fight a publicist!  They are more dangerous than lawyers!
