Chris Brown is expected in downtown Los Angeles today to provide a status update to the judge who sentenced him to five years’ probation, 180 days of hard labor, and 52 weeks of anger management classes.

Judge Patricia Schnegg has been clear from the beginning — she wanted Brown to perform hard labor as part of his sentence and not fluffy community service. Brown is expected to detail the hard labor he has completed so far to the judge today in an effort to show that he is complying with his sentencing requirements.
Brown’s previous status conference went smoothly. This one likely will follow suit, and Popsquire will keep you posted.
UPDATE: Like Popsquire predicted, the hearing went well. The judge was happy with Brown’s progress. He’s completed 17 anger management sessions and 32 days of hard labor so far. Lots more to go.
Well, if court-ordered anger management classes teach people to tweet instead of to hit, then maybe they are working for Chris Brown. Check out his recent Twitter posts below…
He is fulfilling his probation requirements, and the judge said she received “an extremely favorable progress report” from the probation department.
Since his August sentencing hearing, Brown has provided the court with DNA samples, paid all fines and court fees, performed more than 100 hours of community service and completed seven domestic violence classes.
Brown’s next hearing is set for February 18, 2010. Let’s hope he keeps up the good work.
I may sound like a broken record, but it’s just too soon to cheer for Chris Brown. He barely has begun satisfying the terms of his probation for felony assault. Watch and be disappointed as high school kids refuse to take Popsquire’s advice.
Chris Brown needs to leave Rihanna alone. He debuted a new video on Friday night for “Crawl,” the same night Rihanna debuted her video for “Russian Roulette.”
Two weeks ago, his interview with MTV aired the same night that Rihanna appeared on 20/20 with Diane Sawyer.
It’s as if he is promotional-stalking her. Enough. Let Rihanna have the spotlight. Chris needs to go away and fulfill his probation terms.
PS: His video just seems like a way to communicate with Rihanna without directly violating the stay-away order the judge imposed on him.
Chris Brown is trying to figure out how to move past the infamous Rihanna incident. Here’s how: (1) Go away for a while; (2) do your court-ordered hard labor; and (3) complete your 52-week domestic violence class. Then, we can talk.
Chris Brown posted this video about his relationship with Rihanna on his Twitter page early this morning, with the following message: “IM SORRY YALL. JUST HAD TO POST IT.”
Not a smart move. The judge ordered Chris both to stay away from Rihanna and not to contact her. This Twitter post easily could be interpreted as a way to contact Rihanna.
Don’t be surprised if the judge chastises Brown for this at the next status conference.
Chris Brown clearly wants to crawl back into favor with the court of public opinion. It’s too soon. He needs to pay his debt to society and show he has reformed first.
If you missed Leeza Gibbons’ international radio show, “Hollywood Confidential,” over the weekend, don’t fret. Click here to listen to Pospquire and Leeza discuss Chris Brown and his Twitter behavior.
Watch Popsquire’s entertainment reporter / legal expert, Russell Wetanson, debate about whether community service / hard labor is the appropriate punishment for Chris Brown.
Watching Chris Brown pay his debt to society through hard labor makes Popsquire very happy. It would be better if brown didn’t mug for the camera, but this is only day one. He’ll smile less between now and day 180!
Chris Brown announced via Twitter this morning that he is on his way to “community service.” This would be day one of 180 days.
Of course, it’s not just community service. The judge made it very clear that she wants him to perform hard labor.
Dear Chris: Please upload photos of yourself scrubbing graffiti off walls, picking up trash on the highway, and washing cars. That would make Popsquire very happy.
Jermaine Jackson revealed today that Mary J. Blige, Natalie Cole, and Chris Brown will perform at Michael Jackson’s September 26 tribute concert in Vienna. Yes, he said Chris Brown.
[Bauer Griffin Online]
What is Jermaine thinking? Michael had enough of his own legal troubles — he doesn’t need to be associated with a man who just started probation for beating Rihanna. Bad decision.
PS: There’s still hope it won’t happen. Brown needs probation approval to leave the country. Maybe he won’t get it.
