  • The People vs. Casey Anthony

    October 15th, 2008

Because Popsquire followers are on top of current events, you likely know that Casey Anthony was indicted yesterday on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, aggravated manslaughter of a child and four counts of providing false information to police.

The pre-trial hearing is set for November 5, and trial is expected to begin November 17.  Like a good lawyer, Popsquire has assembled a brief timeline of key events.

June 9: Casey says she left three-year-old Caylee with a babysitter.  Investigators later say that the apartment had been empty for several months and the so-called baby sitter may not exist.

June 15: This is the last day that investigators believe Casey was seen by anyone other than her mother.

July 15: Cindy Anthony, Casey’s mother, calls 911 twice.  In the first call, she: (1) asks police to arrest Casey for theft; and (2) expresses concern that Caylee was not with Casey.  In the second call, about an hour later, Cindy is crying and says Casey told her Caylee had been missing for a month.

July 17: Casey is charged with child neglect, lying to investigators and interfering with a criminal investigation.
