Boy George — yes, that’s him below — will be escorted to jail for 15 months!

George, who was found guilty of false imprisonment for beating a Norwegian male escort/model with a metal chain as he tried to flee George’s London flat last April, now has been sentenced to 15 months in prison. During sentencing, the judge stated, that George’s crime was “shocking and degrading” and “so serious that only an immediate sentence of imprisonment can be justified.”

After Boy George declined to testify in his defense, a London jury found him guilty of false imprisonment today.

As a reminder, Boy George has been on trial arising out of accusations that he beat Norwegian male escort/model, Audun Carlsen, with a metal chain as he tried to flee George’s London flat last April.
George was released on bail until his January 16 sentencing date; however, Judge David Radford warned him that he was likely to face jail. “The fact that your bail is being continued does not imply that this will be dealt with by a non-custodial sentence. I don’t want any false expectations created.”
Get it? False expectations. False imprisonment. Judges like puns, too!

The Taboo testimony continues in the Boy George false imprisonment/male escort trial.

Yesterday, UK jurors listened to a 2007 tape of a police interview during which George admitted that he placed his male companion, Auden Carlsen, in handcuffs.
Just like Popsquire previously predicted, George contends that the guy wanted it: “You can’t spank anyone if they don’t want you to,” he said. “Unless you want to get arrested.” George also used his career as a defense, stating: “I certainly wasn’t going to kill him. That’s hardly going to do my career any good, is it?”
Oh yes, the career defense. All celebrities make good decisions in order to save their careers. Boy George must be set free. He would never do anything to jeopardize his career!

Oh Boy…George!

Facing up to life in prison, Boy George is on trial in London for false imprisonment and assault. Today, Norwegian male model/escort Audun Carlsen testified that after “slapping me, beating me, punching me, and screaming things,” George handcuffed him to a hook in the bedroom wall in April 2007. He eventually escaped by unscrewing the hook and running into the street in his underwear.
If he has any chance of winning, George’s primary defense to these crimes must be consent — that the male model/escort was a willing participant in this violent romp. Yikes! Popsquire will keep you posted.
