This week brought us Lindsay Lohan’s ridiculous E-Trade lawsuit andJoe Halderman’s guilty plea after raising the so-called “Tiger Woods” defense, but the most entertaining pop culture / law collison comes from Lady Gaga and Beyonce. Watch as the duo engage in lots of illegal (and fashion forward) behavior in this video. Enjoy!
Vogue Evolution is MTV’s first openly gay and transgendered dance crew on ABDC. Although they may not have full civil rights in the US, they keep earning the right to stay in this dance competition. Watch!
Like a typical lawyer, Popsquire loves a good feud. Check out these videos of Beyonce’s Halo and Kelly Clarkson’s new single, Already Gone.
Do you hear the similarities? Yeah, so does Kelly.
That’s why she says she tried to stop the release of the single and is blaming the similarities on Ryan Tedder, the producer and front-man for band OneRepublic. He allegedly gave the same beat to Beyonce without telling Kelly.
Beyonce proves that America loves the collision between pop culture and law.

Howard Stern recently played an alleged unedited “board mix” (click here) of Beyonce’s Today Show performance from last year. It sounded both terrible and fake. In response, Beyonce’s dadager Matthew Knowles released this statement to TMZ:
“If no one took the time to look at the biggest Inauguration in the history of America then shame on them. If no one took the time to listen to Beyonce sing ‘America the Beautiful’ and ‘At Last’ at the Neighborhood Ball for the first dance of President Obama and the First Lady, and they question Beyonce’s vocal ability, they’ve gotta be an idiot. At 12 years into her career, the last thing someone should be questioning is her vocal ability. That would be like questioning if Kobe Bryant could shoot a jump shot. The vocals were obviously altered.”
Oooh…you know some heads are rolling at NBC. Whoever leaked and/or doctored this recording likely violated company rules and will get fired.
UPDATE: The recording was totally fake, as Popsquire suspected.
For today’s not-so-surprising collision between pop culture and politics, Beyonce reveals that she gets First Lady Michelle Obama’s approval.
Beyonce says: “She told me that she was very happy that her children had an artist like myself and- I don’t even feel right saying this- she said she was happy they had me to look up to.”
Now that the recording of Etta declaring she “can’t stand Beyonce” and that Beyonce is “gonna get her ass whooped” for singing her song has gone viral, Etta says it was a funny joke. She tells the NY Daily News: “I didn’t really mean anything. Even as a little child, I’ve always had that comedian kind of attitude…That’s probably what went into it.”
Uh-huh. Well, at least we know she isn’t planning on committing battery against Beyonce any time soon. Popsquire was so ready to dial 911!
Click here to listen as Etta James takes on Beyonce saying, among other things: “I can’t stand Beyoncé…she had no business up there, singing up there on a big ol’ president day. Don’t be singing my song that I’ve been singing forever.”
Sorry, Etta. You can be angry about not being invited to perform at the Inauguration, but you can’t really claim At Last is your song. Mack Gordon and Harry Warren wrote the lyrics, which means they likely hold the publishing and licensing rights.
