Yes, Amy Winehouse’s attorney is blaming it on the alcohol.
In a London courtroom today, Winehouse pleaded guilty to assault, and her lawyer confirmed that the singer had consumed five vodka /cokes (Coca-Cola) before the underlying incident. Back in December, a theater manager suggested that Winehouse have water instead of another spiked beverage. Instead, Winehouse spiked him.
The judge handed Winehouse a two-year conditional discharge — meaning she has to (miraculously) stay out of trouble for two years — and ordered her to pay $300 in restitution to the theater manager.
PS: Nice mini skirt. Always appropriate for court. Click here to see Winehouse’s prior courtroom fashion choices.

A judge decided today that Amy Winehouse is free to go, go, go.

[Bauer Griffin Online]
Popsquire followers likely remember that Winehouse was accused of striking dancer Sherene Flash, who had approached her and asked for a photograph at a charity ball in London in September.
Winehouse pleaded not guilty, and a London judge agreed, stating that he “cannot be sure that this was not an accident. The charge is therefore dismissed and defendant discharged.”
Ok, so now that her divorce has been approved and she was cleared of these charges, it’s time to make a new album!

Amy Winehouse is set to stand trial today in London for allegedly striking a fan at the End of Summer Ball in London last September.
[Pacific Coast News]
Not only is she able to stand, but she looks much more appropriate for court. Below is what she wore when she pleaded not guilty in March. Good for Amy!

Amy Winehouse isn’t going back to Blake.

[Bauer Griffin Online]
After spending most of their marriage separated either by prison bars or the Atlantic Ocean, Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil got court approval for their divorce today.
Get this, though. Unlike California’s no-fault celebrity divorces where couples simply cite “irreconcilable differences” to end their marriages, the court papers filed by Fielder-Civil cited adultery as the reason for the divorce. Amy admitted to it and did not contest the divorce.
The divorce should be final within six weeks.

Amy Winehouse pleaded not guilty to an assault charge in a London court this morning, but her lawyer likely wanted to make an arrest for a fashion felony.

A short floral dress, high heels, and the signature beehive do not quite classify as court-appropriate attire. But, hey, it’s Amy Winehouse. She is expected back in court for a trial on July 23 for allegedly punching a fan in the eye after said fan approached Winehouse for a photo back in September. Winehouse’s anticipated defense: “I told her no, no, no pictures.”

United States immigration authorities are saying “no, no, no” to Amy Winehouse!

For the second time in Winehouse’s short career, she has been denied a visa to enter the country. She is scheduled to perform at next month’s Coachella music festival near Palm Springs, but her publicist has confirmed that she won’t make it due to “current legal issues.” As a reminder, Winehouse is expected back in English court on March 17 for an assault charge.

The rehab facility housing Blake Fielder-Civil says he must go, go, go!

Just days after Blake admitted to getting Amy Winehouse hooked on drugs, he is being sent back to jail for failing a drug test, according to the UK’s Sun. Instead of being released as early as this month, he could be in jail until early 2010.
Like Popsquire always says, the worst mistake anyone (including celebs) can make is to violate probation or disobey a court order. That’s when judges get mad!

For this morning’s most disturbing (but not necessarily shocking) collision between pop culture and law, Blake Fielder-Civil admits he got Amy Winehouse hooked on drugs.

During a taped interview with the UK’s News Of The World, Blake says, among other things:
- “I introduced her to heroin, crack cocaine and self-harming. I feel more than guilty.”
- “I was there when Amy suffered her first seizure. I still break down thinking about it. We had been taking drugs all day long — heroin and crack…Then my wife, who I love with all my heart and soul, just started shaking violently in front of me.”
- “I dragged Amy into it and without me there is no doubt that she would never have gone down that road. I ruined something beautiful. Now I have to let her go to save her life. I am not abandoning her. I am doing this out of love.”

Two London judges sent Blake Fielder-Civil back to Rehab today.

Amy Winehouse’s husband lost an appeal challenging his 27-month jail sentence this morning. As a reminder, Blake was sentenced for assaulting a pub landlord in 2006, as well as obstruction of justice when he attempted to bribe the landlord to stay quiet. Blake is expected to stay in a rehab facility for the remainder of his jail sentence.

Amy Winehouse’s hubbie has been let go, go, go!

Blake Fielder-Civil was released from Britain’s Edmunds Hill Prison today after serving 12 months of his 27-month sentence for beating up a pub manager in a 2006 bar fight and offering the pub’s landlord $400,000 to keep quiet about it.
The pair have not yet reunited, but Blake (ironically) is expected to head straight to rehab.
