  • The Inauguration vs. Pop Culture News

Admittedly, Popsquire was glued to the Presidential Inauguration yesterday, but nothing gets by The Pop!  Here is a quick wrap-up of yesterday’s pop culture/law collisions that remain relevant today:

    1.  William Balfour pleaded not guilty to the homicide of Jennifer Hudson’s mom, brother, and nephew.

Balfour was indicted last month on three counts of first-degree murder and remains in the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections.  He is expected back in court on Jan. 27.

    2.  Shia LaBeouf needs La Chouffeur.

Not surprisingly, the DMV has decided to yank Shia’s driver’s license for refusing to submit to a blood alcohol test in connection with his July crash.  FYI, when a person refuses to have a blood alcohol test, a suspension generally is automatic for at least one year and up to as much as three.

    3. Paula Abdul’s extreme fan/stalker (officially) died of a drug overdose.

LA’s Assistant Chief of Coroner officially confirmed that Paula Goodspeed, who was inspired by Rainbow Brite and was obsessed with Paula Abdul, died of a drug overdose outside of Abdul’s home in November.  Very sad.
