  • Paula Abdul May Not Return To American Idol

Like a typical lawyer, Popsquire loves a tough negotiation.

Following news that Ryan Seacrest will be earning $15 million per year for hosting American Idol, Paula Abdul is threatening to leave the show if producers don’t set up a new deal for her soon.

Although auditions for next season are set to begin August 6, Paula’s manager says he doesn’t even have a proposal for a new contract from FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, the production companies behind the show.  He also says:

“I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual; I think unnecessarily hurtful.  I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven’t stepped up and said what they want to do.”

Calm down, dude.  This is business.  Any Hollywood manager knows that these deals often happen last minute and may not be completed before Paula is expected to begin rendering services on the next season.

Nonetheless, it’s good to see that Paula is working with someone who isn’t afraid to fight for her.  Get Paula some good money!
