Like a good lawyer, I decided to organize my files this week.
Poor Susan Boyle. She got a place in the cabinet, because a male intruder broke into her homeTuesday night. Yeah, there’s a first time offense joke there.
[Bauer Griffin Online]
Sadly, though, my “death” file grew as Nancy Kerrigan’s father passed away following an allegedly violent argument with his son. Nancy’s brother, who is charged only with assault so far, remains in jail waiting for someone to post his bail. Goooooood luck, dude.
Meanwhile, I have nine months to update my “things that should be illegal” file, the location for Tila Tequila’s announcement that she has a baby on tap. Oddly, she won’t say who gave her a shot at sperm.
Hopefully not any of you, my Popsquire peeps! Have a great weekend. And, remember, don’t drink and drive.
This weekend’s Grammy Awards marks approximately one year since Chris Brown’s felony assault on Rihanna. While Brown serves five years probation and performs court-ordered hard labor, Rihanna will be on Ellen this Monday. And, she’s all smiles — a survivor and an inspiration.
And the case of America vs. Jay Leno moves forward. Watch Jimmy Kimmel respond to Jay Leno telling Oprah he was “sucker punched” when Kimmel appeared on The Jay Leno Show.
The Daily Beastreports that Brittany Murphy’s widower, Simon Monjack, will sue Warner Bros. for wrongful death.
[Bauer Griffin Online]
Monjack and Brittany’s mother will allege that the actress “died of a heart attack from the stress caused by Warner Brother’s canceling of a contract just two weeks before she died.”
It’s a sad situation, but goooood luck. Losing a job is hardly cause for a wrongful death lawsuit. Try breach of contract, at best.
Note to Monjack: Proceed with caution if you are concerned about Brittany’s legacy. Any defense of this lawsuit necessarily will drag her name through the mud to prove that there were other causes of her death.
Susan Boyle broke into showbiz, and last night someone broke into her home.
[Bauer Griffin Online]
People.com reports that an intruder ran past Susan as she entered her home late last night, and police (not the fashion police) issued this statement:
“Lothian and Borders Police were called to an address in Blackburn at around 9:50 p.m. yesterday following reports of a disturbance. A man was detained in connection with the incident and released without charge pending further inquiries.”
Um, maybe Susan should dream a dream about security.
Nancy Kerrigan is planning her father’s funeral while her brother faces a medical evaluation and, possibly, murder charges. And, get this, Tonya Harding issued a statement expressing her sympathy. Yeah, that’s the shoulder Nancy plans to cry on.
She says she got pregnant for Casey Johnson and “this baby was no accident either.” Yes, please file this information under things that *should* be illegal.
[Bauer Griffin Online]
Nancy Kerrigan’s mother says her husband had a heart attack, but MyFoxBoston.com says Nancy’s brother, Mark, had a violent argument with his dad just before his death. Mark currently is facing only assault charges and is expected in court today.
Daily Beast reporter, Gerald Posner, says he knows exactly what went down the night of the infamous Tiger Woods car crash. If true, the story involves Tiger lying to police and super sleuth skills exhibited by Elin. Watch!
While Jersey Shore’s Snooki was snookin’ for love this week, Conan O’Brien, Shane Sparks, and Amy Winehouse were lookin’ for lawyers.
[Bauer Griffin Online]
NBC gave Conan the official goodbye, and his lawyers were able to squeeze out a settlement worth $45 million as well as the freedom to start working again in September. Shane Sparks, on the other hand, is free to work immediately…wherever an alleged child molester can get a job, so long as it’s not on MTV’sAmerica’s Best Dance Crew. And, Jamie Foxx would be so proud of Amy Winehouse as she pleaded guilty to assaulting a theater manager in December, and her lawyer blamed it on the a-a-a-alcohol.
Have a good weekend. Remember, please don’t drink and drive.
Levi Johnston may be joining a new D-List: the deadbeat dad list, that is.
[Bauer Griffin Online]
Bristol Palin says the baby daddy / semi-nude model isn’t paying child support and, as a result, filed court papers asking for $1,750 / month dating back to the December 2008 birth of their son, Tripp.
Note to Levi: If you’re not supporting your kid, pay up. No one likes a deadbeat dad. Even Kathy Griffin would say that’s not the kind of D-List anyone should be on!
Brittany Murphy’s husband, Simon Monjack, and mother, Sharon Murphy, told Matt Lauer on Today that rumors about Brittany’s illegal and prescription drug abuse were false and ruined her career. They’re sticking to “natural causes” as the explanation for the young actress’ death.
