Howard K. Stern and two of Anna Nicole Smith’s former doctors may face a jury soon.
[Bauer Griffin Online]
After more than two weeks in a preliminary hearing, LA Superior Court Judge Robert J. Perry decided today that prosecutors presented sufficient evidence for Stern and Drs. Khristine Eroshevich and Sandeep Kapoor to stand trial for 22 drug-related felony charges.
Representing the Michael Jackson estate in legal matters is more than a Thriller. It’s gotta be a full time job and then some.
[Bauer Griffin Online]
John Landis, who famously directed the Thriller video, producer George Folsey Jr. and a production company filed claims against the estate yesterday. They say MJ stiffed them out of more than $2.4 million in profits related to the video.
And, this isn’t it.
Just this week alone, Leonard Rowe (Jackson’s self-proclaimed manager) filed a claim for $51,218 in alleged unreimbursed expenses, and Dr. Arnie Klein filed for $48, 522.89 for alleged unpaid medical treatments.
And, they join a long list of others seeking money from the estate. MJ’s former lawyers, security guards, and hairstylist have filed separate lawsuits, alleging that MJ owed them a combined total of more than $800,000 in unpaid fees.
Please raise your hand if you don’t have a claim against the Jackson estate.
A Bahamian judge decided today that Picewell Forbes won’t be punished for ruining the John Travolta extortion trial.
[Bauer Griffin Online]
Although Forbes’ conduct — announcing that defendant Pleasant Bridgewater had been found not guilty before the jury reached its decision — resulted in a mistrial, the judge decided today that Forbes would not be punished by the court.
The judge told Forbes that because he has been “rightly ridiculed locally and internationally … It is my opinion that you have suffered enough.”
What about all the time and money that went into the trial? So-called public humiliation won’t pay back any of that, nor will it make up Travolta having to testify about his son’s death at an anticipated second trial.
Levi Johnston must have one big contract with Playgirl.
[Bauer Griffin Online]
That’s gotta be the explanation for his decision to pose fully nude for Playgirl, right? Levi’s manager, Tank Jones, confirms that “everything’s gonna hang out. We’re talking ‘Full Johnson.’ ”
Let’s hope it also includes a full paycheck. A baby daddy has bills to pay!
TMZ reports that the Los Angeles DA’s office has charged all five suspects in the robbery ring that has victimized celebrities since late last year. Here’s the breakdown:
Nick Prugo has been charged with felony first degree residential burglary of Audrina Patridge, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Rachel Bilson, Orlando Bloom, Brian Austin Green, Megan Fox and L.A. businessman Nick Deleo.
Diana Tamayo has been charged with felony first degree residential burglary of Lindsay Lohan and Ashley Tisdale.
Courtney Ames has been charged with felony first degree residential burglary of Paris Hilton.
Roy Lopez, Jr. has been charged with felony first degree residential burglary of Paris Hilton.
Alexis Neiers, aka Alexis Taylor, has been charged with felony first degree residential burglary of Orlando Bloom.
The courthouse better start rolling out the red carpet. If these defendants don’t enter a plea bargain, celebrity arrivals for these trials could get complicated…and fun.
Popsquire’s Russell Wetanson was on CNN.com/LIVE this morning with details from last night’s Los Angeles premiere of Michael Jackson’s “This Is It.” Enjoy!
Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” premiered last night around the world and gave fans a glimpse of what could have been.
Among other things, the film shows MJ singing, dancing, and making creative decisions about his tour. Consistent with the autopsy report, the film shows a healthy 50-year-old man who, in many respects, held his own against the much younger backup dancers.
If Dr. Conrad Murray is prosecuted for MJ’s death, he better hope the jurors don’t see this movie. It will remind them of the powerful performer that MJ was and likely taint their image of any defendant.
For today’s collision between pop culture and politics, Bravo TV executive, Andy Cohen, wants Michelle Obamato wear She By Sheree, the fashion line from The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Sheree Whitfield.
[Bauer Griffin Online]
Don’t do it, Michelle. If you start with She By Sheree, Kim will come after you to wear her wigs, which will infuriate NeNe.
Whatever you do, you don’t want to be on NeNe’s bad side. Trust Popsquire on this one.
Richard Hatch says he and many others have been abused by the system and hints that he has “ideas” for future projects. Maybe he can collaborate with Jon Gosselin.
