Popsquire Beat: This Week In Pop Culture And Law
The Popsquire Beat presents this week’s most entertaining collisions between pop culture and law.
1. Britney Spears’ former bodyguard couldn’t handle the circus.
In a lawsuit filed in LA Superior Court, plaintiff Kerry M. Vince says Brit “negligently operated her home and business thereby causing injuries to [him]” and her “extreme/outrageous conduct intentionally and/or recklessly caused [him] severe emotional distress.” So tragic. It looks like Brit’s former bodyguard will not always love her.
2. Donald Trump goes from the boardroom to the courtroom.
Trump fought dismissal of his ongoing defamation case against author Timothy O’Brien over statements in O’Brien’s 2005 book, Trump Nation: The Art Of Being The Donald, that Trump is worth only $150 million to $250 million. Trump is seeking billions of dollars in damages and claiming that O’Brien defamed and damaged him by contending that he is not a billionaire. O’Brien’s anticipated defense: “Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, if Mr. Trump were a billionaire, don’t you think he could afford a better hair piece?”
3. And, for this week’s video collision pop culture and law, watch as Cam Gigandet becomes a victim of battery and false imprisonment at the hands of some rabid Twilight fans.
