Popsquire Beat: This Week In Pop Culture And Law
The Popsquire Beat presents this week’s most entertaining collisions between pop culture and law.
1. A Los Angeles judge decided this week that Britney Spears is not mentally fit to testify in court.

Jon Eardley filed a motion to compel Brit to testify about restraining orders against himself, Sam Lutfi, and Adnan Ghalib at an April 28 hearing. This decision is entirely consistent with the 14-month-old conservatorship and means that Britney won’t be singing on stage or the witness stand any time soon.
1. Christian celebrities support gay marriage.

In response to the overexposed Perez Hilton / Miss California feud, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, and Heidi Montag expressed support for gay marriage via Twitter this week. Britney (or someone writing on her behalf) wrote: “Love is love! People should be able to do whatever makes them happy!” Miley told Perez that “Jesus loves [him],” and Heidi even said she’d attend Perez’s hypothetical wedding. In short, these celebs believe you should be able to tweet whomever you want.
3. A federal judge won’t let Rod Blagojevich travel to Costa Rica to participate in NBC’s upcoming reality series, I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!
U.S. District Judge James Zagel explained that, among other reasons, Blagoveich needs to remain in the country to help his attorneys formulate a strategy for his defense. Of course, if this judge were really interested in justice, he’d make Blagojevich appear on the show, which would require him to share screen time with Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag. Now, that would be justice!
Have a great weekend. Remember, please don’t drink and drive!
