  • Lindsay Lohan Legal Troubles: Timeline

Given this weekend’s frenzy over Lindsay Lohan’s legal woes, below is a handy timeline.  You might be surprised to learn that, despite lots of negative press, Lindsay has largely stayed out of legal trouble since her 2007 DUI charges.

July 13: Lindsay completes a 45-day stay in rehab and leaves with a voluntary alcohol bracelet attached to her body.

July 24: Lindsay is arrested for suspicion of DUI after a brief car chase.  A police search finds a small amount of cocaine in her possession.

Early Aug: Lindsay checks into Le Cirque rehab in Utah.

Aug. 23: Lindsay enters plea bargain arising out of both DUI arrests.  She pleads: (1) no contest to two counts of DUI; (2) guilty to two counts to being under the influence of a controlled substance (cocaine); and (3) no contest to reckless driving.  She is ordered to serve one day in jail, attend an alcohol education class for 18 months, and will remain on probation for 36 months.

    Oct. 5: Lindsay leaves rehab.

Nov. 15: Lindsay serves 84 minutes in jail.

    2008

Feb. 23: Lindsay settles lawsuit arising out of an October 2005 car crash on the famous Robertson Blvd.

April 7: Lindsay’s former bodyguard files a lawsuit for alleged unpaid wages.

July 15: As part of a routine progress hearing, a judge confirms that Lindsay is successfully complying with her probation terms.

Sept. 2: LAPD Chief Bratton gives Lindsay a compliment, sorta.  He says that since Lindsay has “gone gay,” she is staying out of trouble, and the paparazzi are generally more well-behaved.

Sept. 26: Rumors surface that Lindsay may seek to obtain a restraining order against her father, but nothing materializes.

Oct. 22: Four plaintiffs file a lawsuit against Lindsay for negligence, assault, battery, and emotional distress, among other claims.  They claim that in July 2007, a drunk Lindsay hijacked a car in which they were passengers and drove like a mad woman down PCH “at speeds over 60 miles per hour, and sped through intersections controlled by red lights and stop signs without slowing down” and, at several points, “came very close to colliding with other vehicles.”  Each plaintiff is seeking at least $50,000 in damages.

Oct. 28: Lindsay settles lawsuit filed by former bodyguard.

Dec. 17: An Arizona man with a history of stalking Lindsay is arrested for disorderly conduct after attempting to get around nightclub security to meet her.

    2009

March 13: Warrant for Lindsay’s arrest is issued for possible probation violation.

March 15: Police arrive at Lindsay’s house due to commotion.  Inside, Lindsay and Sam allegedly are fighting, but police do not get involved.  Instead, the police stay outside to patrol the paparazzi.

March 16: Lindsay’s lawyer shows up to court, and the arrest warrant is rescinded.
