  • American Idol Changes Rules: Will The Show Suffer?

Just like Popsquire predicted, American Idol producers have decided to give the show’s judges the power to veto the will of the American people.  Not good!

    American Idol Top 13

In an effort to save contestants like Chris Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson and Michael Johns, whom supposedly departed prematurely from the show, the judges now have the ability to save one contestant from now until the Top 5 remain.

While many fans may have been sad to see the likes of Daughtry and Hudson leave prematurely (no comment about Johns), it’s part of the show.  If you don’t vote and your favorite contestant goes home, then it’s your fault.  The judges should not be allowed to change the will of the American people.

Moreover, this rule may have the opposite effect from what the producers intended.  If viewers are confident that the judges will save the Hudsons of the competition, then their votes may be placed for someone less deserving.  As Bill Clinton would say, voting is very personal.  Now, it also may become meaningless for American Idol fans.
