  • Popsquire Beat: Dec. 14 – 19

The Popsquire Beat presents this week’s most entertaining collisions between pop culture and law.  Enjoy!

    1.  A woman allegedly named Billie Jean is suing Michael Jackson.

She wants joint custody of his son Prince Michael Jackson II (aka Blanket), claiming to be the kid’s mother. In short, Billie Jean says she is the one! Michael’s anticipated defense: “She claims that I am the one, but the kid is not her son.”

    2.  Call him Ryan Suecrest!

A Turkish reality tv producer unsuccessfully sued Ryan Seacrest to stop this week’s premiere of “Momma’s Boys.”  Plaintiff Luftu Murat Uckardesler claims that NBC Universal and Ryan Seacreast Productions “willfully appropriated” the format of “Momma’s Boys” from his Turkish show, “Perfect Bride.”  Unfortunately for Luftu, this was not the perfect lawsuit.

    3.  Guy Ritchie may not be a Material Boy

Just two days after Liz Rosenberg confirmed a Madonna/Guy Ritchie $76 million divorce settlement, the former couple released a statement earlier this week, contradicting Liz and claiming that her confirmation was “misleading and inaccurate, specifically in relation to the sums of money involved….”  Madonna must be Burnin’ Up at her publicist!
