The Popsquire Beat: Nov. 29 - Dec. 5
The Popsquire Beat presents this week’s most entertaining collisions between pop culture and law.
1. Bad Boy George!
After Boy George declined to testify in his defense, a London jury found him guilty of false imprisonment. Norwegian male model/escort Audun Carlsen told jurors that after “slapping me, beating me, punching me, and screaming things,” George handcuffed him to a hook in the bedroom wall in April 2007. Finding George guilty, the jury clearly decided that karma actually is a boomerang.
2. Kid Rock is going blog-a-listic on a Georgia judge!
In a whiny collision between pop culture and law, Kid is upset that Judge Alvin T. Wong won’t count his performances for the troops as community service to fulfill his court sentence arising out of a 2007 Waffle House brawl. Note to Kid: Naomi Campbell didn’t get to fulfill her community service by modeling for the troops. She mopped floors. You can, too!
3. Gary Coleman stars in Different Strikes!
The former child star pleaded no contest this week to charges of misdemeanor disorderly conduct and reckless driving, arising out of a September bowling alley brawl in Utah. Gary was ordered to pay a $100 fine for the first charge, and the judge agreed to expunge the second count if he stays out of trouble for a year.
Have a great weekend. Remember, please don’t drink and drive!
