Sad news: Christina Applegate announced over the weekend that she recently was diagnosed with breast cancer, but (thankfully) it is not life threatening. Her rep says:

“Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection through a doctor ordered MRI, the cancer is not life threatening…Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery. No further statement will be issued at this time.”

If you or a family member is diagnosed with cancer or any other serious medical condition, it’s important to know that various laws can offer job protection. For example, under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act, people suffering from a serious medical condition may be entitled to 12 weeks of unpaid leave from work. The leave can be taken all at once or intermittently.

Popsquire hopes that Christina soon will be saying, “Cancer, Who?!?”
