  • Real World: Drugs

If you didn’t watch last night’s episode of MTV’s Real World: Hollywood, you missed a dramatic collision between pop culture and law! This season’s resident addict, Joey, moved out and read aloud his “goodbye letter to cocaine and alcohol.”

    Following are some excerpts:

“I arrived to Los Angeles and said to myself, ‘I’ve finally made it.’ We started to party every night and sometimes I declined offers — until one night I decided to go out with my new found friends. And I started the night off with a couple of Long Islands.

Then, owners, promoters, and producers of movies invited me over to their table. With me wanting to become an actor and big celebrity, I could not refuse. The night got out of hand as I drank Grey Goose Vodka and snorted some of the best cocaine I’ve ever snorted.

When I arrived back at the house, I began to drink heavily in an attempt to fall asleep. Instead, I blacked out and threatened everyone. After the rage had subsided, the producers approached me with an option to go to rehab and it was the offer i couldn’t refuse.”

    Popsquire’s perspective…

Although Joey is clearly admitting to drug use, this likely won’t catch the attention of any DA. Moreover, such an admission also is unlikely to get the producers into trouble. Even if they had caught the act on tape, simple observation or documentation of drug use likely will not result in charges against MTV or Bunim-Murray.

Popsquire wishes Joey many years of sobriety.
