  • Twelve Days of Rob Lowe: Day One

Popsquire keeps his promises, so take out your notepads for Day One of “Twelve Days of Rob Lowe.” This lesson focuses on the sexual harassment allegations contained in this Cross-Complaint filed by Jessica Gibson, Rob’s former nanny.

Focus on the following allegations from pages 7 and 8 of the cross-complaint for purposes of this discussion:

    1. Rob placed his hand inside Gibson’s pants “in order to touch her crotch.”
    2. Rob repeatedly exposed “his flacid penis.”
    3. Rob repeatedly exposed “his erect penis.”
    4. Rob repeatedly asked Gibson “to touch his penis.”
    5. Rob repeatedly masturbated in her presence.
    6. Sheryl (Rob’s wife) walked around “naked completely exposing herself.”
    7. Sheryl made “numerous sexually vulgar comments about male genitalia.”
    8. Sheryl “would talk about her sex life with cross-defendant Rob Lowe.”
    9. Sherly said “Gibson would never have a boyfriend because only married men would want to fuck her.”

    Popsquire’s perspective…

If true, these allegations certainly could constitute sexual harassment. However, sexual harassment claims carry a one-year statute of limitations in California. To overcome this obstacle, Gibson will have to evoke the “continuing violations doctrine,” which essentially requires her to show that conduct is “sufficiently connected to the unlawful actions within the limitations period.”

This may be difficult, given that Gibson worked on and off for the Lowes for seven years, and most people likely would not keep returning to a job with such hostile conditions. On the other hand, if she can establish that this conduct did occur for several years, the Lowes are in big trouble!

      Thanks for the video…
      I do have questions.
What age was Jessica Gibson when the sexual harassment started?
      Would her age effect this?
Does his Atlanta record come in to these complaints?

For the most part I keep hearing Lowe’s early video was with two girls. I’ve also read it was Rob with another man and a 16 year old, a sleazier scene. It’s not all coming back. Someone needs to do a legitimate recap.

Living in Santa Barbara and hearing about the Lowe’s for years, Gibson is totally believable. The Lowe’s run with a nouveau riche pack of dopes that are hated for media elitism, vicious attacks on workers and more, similar to Lowe.

Is Gibson the only 20-something not using her cell phone cam?

    2. Thanks for writing in! Here are a few thoughts:

      1. Gibson is 24, and the allegations date back to 2005. She was over 18 at all relevant times, so there are no underage issues. Having said that, Gloria Allred likely is to paint her as a young, naive victim who was taken advantage of by an older, savvy celebrity.

      2. Good point about the cell phone cam! If she had video footage, we likely would have heard about it by now. Allred isn’t one to hold back.

      3. Typically, allegations about a defendant’s or a plaintiff’s past, private life likely would be irrelevant and inadmissible. In this case, however, who doesn’t know about Rob Lowe’s sex tapes? And, just for the record, there are two. One does involve a three-way with another man, but Popsquire is pretty sure that Rob’s attention was entirely focused on the female participant. A quick internet search will provide you with clips from both videos…
