  • Suzanne Pleshette Post-Life

According to CNN, actress Suzanne Pleshette passed away today.  Popsquire remembers her from The Bob Newhart Show and, more recently, as Karen’s mom on Will & Grace.  Sorry to see you go, Suzanne…

Popsquire’s pop quiz:  If you die without a will, what happens to your assets?

The division and distribution of an estate generally is governed by a statute, called an “intestate” law.  Although laws may vary from state to state, here are the general rules…

    1. If you are survived by a spouse and children, your estate usually is divided between your spouse and children.
    2. If you have only children (or grandchildren), the estate is divided among your children (and grandchildren).
    3. If you have neither spouse, children, nor grandchildren, the estate is distributed to your parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents, aunts and uncles, or cousins, depending on who survives you.
